In your System Preferences/Energy Saver, just set the _computer sleep_ to "Never". When that happens, the USB is disconnected and you'll get an error when it wakes up that the connection was not closed properly. "when Mac goes sleeping": I'm assuming that means the disk goes sleep. I believe the Davis drivers are outdated and seems they don't maintain currency with the updates. The drivers that Davis packaged with the software did not work with my late model Intel Mac.
